Modern Todwick

Todwick is located in South Yorkshire about 1.5 miles from the M1 motorway / A57 Junction 31. The village is accessible from three main entrances. From the A57 down Goosecarr Lane, from the A57 junction with Kiveton Lane at the Red Lion Inn, or via Kiveton Lane approached from Kiveton Park village.

Although Todwick has been a village since at least 1060, it was not until the 1960s that the village started to expand when more homes and a new school were built. Now, in 1999 the population has grown to about 1950 inhabitants living in more than 600 houses or bungalows.

Todwick is a pleasant, pastoral community with farming land on all sides. It serves as a dormitory to the many commuters who work in nearby towns and cities.

Todwick has a few shops which are located on The Pastures and act as the hub of the village.

There is a wide range of clubs and groups in which Todwick residents of all ages are involved. See the list under Organisations and Groups.

Transport is mainly by car, although there are service buses available. The nearest railway stations are in Kiveton Park where there are two stations linking to Sheffield, Worksop, Retford, Doncaster and then connections to all parts of the country and into Europe.

Air transport became a new feature in 1998 with the opening of the Sheffield Airport at the Junction 33 of the M1 motorway, about 7 miles from Todwick. This links to other parts of the UK, Ireland and Europe, with international links from various hubs.

Todwick has its own Parish Council, see fuller details under Todwick Parish Council.
