MARY GREGORY
Mary is shortly to retire from the Parish Council having completed 28
years loyal and devoted service to the village. In addition, Mary has been
responsible for the work involved in putting together every edition of The
Informer since October 1982 keeping us all informed on council and other
matters. Over this period of time Mary has worked very hard for Todwick
and its people.
The Parish Council on behalf of everyone in the village would take this
opportunity of thanking her most sincerely for her contribution
throughout. We send her our best wishes for a well earned retirement.
PLANNING APPLICATION (RB 2007-0281) IN RESPECT OF TODWICK CARE HOME, 160, KIVETON LANE, TODWICK
This application has been made to R.M.B.C. by Mr F. Marshall, Oak Farm,
Pinfold Lane, Doncaster, to demolish the existing building and erect a new
building consisting of 23 one and two bedroomed apartments.
A meeting of Todwick residents was called and held in the Church Hall
at 2.30pm, Saturday 16 March 2007 when a total of 40 persons attended.
Objections were made to the Parish Council in respect of the closure of
the Care Home and also to the erection of the new building. A considerable
number of local residents objected to both.
It was pointed out that the application by Mr Marshall, (the present
owner of the Care Home) appeared to breach numerous planning regulations.
Although the planning application had been received at the planning
department of R.M.B.C. on 15 January 2007, the Parish Council were not
made aware of the matter until a Council meeting on Tuesday 6 March 2007,
this being due to the fact that the meeting of the Council scheduled for
Tuesday 27 February 2007 having been cancelled.
Individual objections were made to R.M.B.C. and the Parish Council also
objected to the proposed scheme on behalf of these residents.
A date has yet to be fixed for the matter to go before The Planning
& Regulatory Board at R.M.B.C.
TODWICK RAMBLERS CLUB
This is now a formal walking group where members are issued with
membership cards. The group meets for regular walks on the 2nd Sunday of
the month at approximately 10am. All Todwick residents are welcome to join
the group together with children and dogs (if well behaved). Remember that
even in summer stout footwear is required. The walks are led by Jim Tomkin
(770700) who will provide further information to anyone wishing to take part.

A57 IMPROVEMENT SCHEME
This is in the hands of a Government Inspector having been referred to
that office by the Local Government Ombudsman.
The matter of compulsory purchase of land has still to be resolved and it
would appear that the matter will go to a public enquiry. Members of the
A57 Action Group will have the opportunity to present their case to the
Inspector. A date for this hearing has yet to be announced.

A reminder to anyone interested is that The Luncheon Club meets at 12 noon
