PLEASE BE AWARE. ANTI TERRORISM
South Yorkshire Police have today 4th July 2007 made us aware
that there is a nation-wide major counter terrorism crackdown. Following
the recent incidents on 29th/30th June in London & Glasgow, they
believe that there may be another attack. No specific part of the UK has
been identified but we are told that the target may be some form of
licensed premises or an area where large numbers of people congregate.
Police patrols have been increased through out the UK where they believe
that it may be a particular vulnerable area. You are therefore asked to be
vigilant to "unusual behaviour". If you have any information
please telephone the anti terrorism line on 0800 789 321. This is a no
cost call.
Trading Standards
South Yorkshire Police have recently made us aware that a grey Ford
Transit van is operating in the nearby Aston area. The vehicle has the
logo Century Fascias on the side and has the registration FJ 56
OUF. Officers from the South Yorkshire Trading Standards have recently
approached the occupants of the vehicle, who immediately left the job on
which they were working and did not return.
If you are approached by these men, who speak with Irish accents,
please telephone Consumer Direct on 0845 4040506 and report the incident.
Consumer Direct is the first contact point for Trading Standards.
Direct mailing
We have been made aware that there is a direct mailing from a company
called Reprohealth and at least two letters have been received in Todwick.
The letter, which advertises a "male medical product", could be
described as offensive material. Furthermore, we understand that this may
be a scam. If you receive one of these letters we recommend that you do
not respond to it. The envelope has the words "Private and very
confidential" in blue lettering in the centre and the company name
with a return address in "Greenford". Should you receive one of
these letters, we recommend that you destroy it.
Roof Stripping
We have been made aware by the South Yorkshire Police, that thieves are
operating in this area stripping metal, particularly from church roofs. If
you see any unusual activity around a church, particularly outside normal
working hours, please report the incident by telephone to the Police on
01142 202020
Graffiti
We are advised by the Safer Rotherham Team of an increase in graffiti
in the area. Chaucer Road, Browning Road, Herringthorpe Playing Fields,
Spinneyfields and Wellgate in Rotherham have been targeted.
If you are aware of any graffiti vandalism or know of any culprit,
please telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LEAVE
YOUR NAME OR ADDRESS OR TELEPHONE NUMBER.
