Open Evening about National Grid replacing all gas pipes in Todwick

Doors open at 6.00pm for a 6.30 start
Village Hall
The National Grid are now responsible for the gas pipework under Todwick.
They intend to start a programme of work in Todwick to replace all the
old iron pipes with plastic. The work will commence in the first week of
April and will last 6 Months!
Because there will be major disruption to the households in Todwick,
National Grid will be writing to all households and they also intend to
hold an "open evening" on 27 March 2008 to explain their plan of
work (a 20 minute presentation) and to answer any questions.
There will be a 20 to 30 minute presentation followed by a forum
answering any questions. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served.

FREE OF CHARGE
Something different again - Todwick's history goes back a long way, so
learn something about it on this day. There will be a new exhibition of
memorabilia and photos by Philip Robbins in the Village Hall. This will be
one of the first events in the rebuilt/refurbished Village Hall - so come
and have a look at what has been achieved.
There will also be some other displays in the Village Hall.
The Trail will include older buildings etc, e.g. the 1068 church, see
Robin Hood's Trysting Tree, Todwick Moat and the ancient wall, and some of
the attractive private gardens and views in our lovely village that will
be open to visitors.
A number of people have already offered to show their gardens.
It would be good to have more people offering to show their gardens.
Even if you just want people to stand and appreciate your front garden
without wandering over your property then that would equally good - please

A trail map is being produced for the day showing all the stopping
points, including refreshment stops at the new Church Hall and also the
Village Hall.
A programme of extensive publicity is continuing, through the

local press, posters, flyers and by word of mouth... so we are hoping for
a good turnout.

Todwick Church Hall Luncheon Club
Do you know that we have a Luncheon Club in the Village? It meets
usually twice a month in the Church Hall on Thursdays 12 noon till 2pm. A
two-course meal followed by a "cuppa" can be yours for a mere
£3.50. The meals are cooked by a group of students doing a Life Skills
course at the Rother Valley Campus. Numbers are limited so if you want a
place, please phone MYRA on 01909 770603.

During July and August we will be providing a "home - grown"
meal, possibly fish and chips on 27th July and 24th August 2006.

FREE OF CHARGE
From 14.00 - 17.00 the programme of events will offer entertainment for
all ages with a particular emphasis on entertainment for children.
Come and join in the free of charge fun ....
At the Bowls Club you can learn how to bowl (flat-soled shoes or
trainers needed) and also see a Model railway in action (You may wish to
join a club yourself). At the Cricket Club you can take lessons and the
Toddler Group will putting on games/entertainment at the Cricket Club for
the Toddlers. There will be Five aside football games organised by the
Junior Football Club. Todwick Early Years will be offering some
entertainment, likewise the Brownies will offering a fun Bran Tub for all
to try.
Wish List Crafts will be demonstrating scrapbooking and card making -
you may wish to try your skills here. Todwick Craft Group will be
demonstrating a range of activities. Todwick Junior and Infants School
will organise a couple of hours of different games and races for the
entertainment of everybody.
Cindy will offer Face Painting. There will be a couple of bouncy
castles - one for toddlers and one for grownups and there will also be a
Jenga game for everyone to try their skills! SK57 Birds and Save the
Children Fund will be there for your entertainment.
The Mothers Union and the Women's Institute are offering free
refreshments. Also there will be refreshments on free offer at the various
locations.
There is a Raffle - with some good prizes for a very small investment!
Joe's Ice-cream van will also be on the Recreation Ground - but you
will have to pay for your own ice-cream!!!!!

We are embarking on a period of fund raising for the above:
- Collection boxes are around the Village - in the Village Hall, the
Post Office, the Church, the Church Hall and the Red Lion. Please give
generously and if possible Gift Aid your contribution - envelopes

- At the Coffee Morning 21st June 2006 10.30 - 12.00 in the Church
Hall there will be a "Everyone's a Winner" Tombola -
contributions would be welcome.
- As part of the main appeal we will be holding an Afternoon Tea Party

work of one of our local Charities the Bluebell Hospice. Please do join us
and give your support to this very worthwhile charity. Merchandise will be
on sale or you may wish to give a donation.

Todwick Toddlers Christmas Party
The Christmas party was held by the group on 13th December 2005 and was
greatly enjoyed by both children and adults.
We were entertained by "Kimmo" with a variety of magic tricks
and puppets. The children particularly enjoyed the appearance (and
subsequent disappearance) of Kimmo's pet white rabbit and we are still
left mystified as to where he went.
After the entertainment and party food, Santa Claus paid us a visit and
each of the children received a gift.
The Toddler group meets every Tuesday morning in the Village Hall from
9.15am until 11.30 and is open to children from birth to school adult with
accompanying adult. During the school holidays older children are welcome
with their younger siblings.
This project is supported by the Rural Target Fund of the Objective
I Programme for South Yorkshire. Part financed by the European
Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee fund of the European Union and the
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Yorkshire Rural
Community Council manages the Rural Target Fund.
