We wish all our readers worldwide a very Happy, Healthy, Safe and Successful 2018

As we start the New Year we need to think about a sad fact – that modern slavery exists and is happening in our world today – so we must all play our part in stamping it out and protect the human rights of all. Whatever industry we are working in, we should be active against modern slavery, looking closely at our businesses, our colleagues/employees and our direct supply chain partners. We need to encourage all people to take responsibility, not only for ensuring that we conduct ourselves in the right way and with respect for others. We must be aware and looking out for signs that any individuals we come across could be experiencing a violation of their fundamental human rights. If that happens, we want to make sure people know what action to take.

In 2018 and beyond, and where we can, we should aim to raise working standards and find ways to minimise the risk of modern slavery within our business as well as adhering to the legal requirements of the Act. We also recognise that there is always more that can be done.

Update your 2018 diaries with training for workers at all levels

Whether you are a manager, director, safety representative, supervisors or worker it is time to

check out the training needed in your workplace.
look at the latest additions to the Diary of Events and you will see plans have been made already worldwide well into 2018 offering training courses, symposiums, webinars and conferences in many places in the world on a wide range of subjects.
make sure you do not put off training for yourself and your staff. In these days of tighter budgets perhaps training may be put on the “back-burner” – but think again how you can keep up with the latest techniques and training opportunities.
